Operation Spark - Obama's coming!

So my good friend's, John Fraboni's, Operation Spark is doing kick-ass AND they will be hosting NONE other than Mr. President Obama himself who will come and learn to code!

To advertise this amazing occasion, I collaborated with John to create this fun video:

I had a lot of fun doing the designs and animations for this video! I especially like that John added some of my in game animations of Halle the robot at the end! If you want to check those out, you can look them up in my previous post here:

El Cafecito de la Aleman - package

So sadly my friend decided to go in a completely different direction with the branding of his little cafe, therefore he will not be using any of my proposed designs. I did however have a lot of fun with them, so just for myself I decided to go ahead and design the package with the Option 3 that I liked the best. The package would have included:

A buisness card front

and back (with client fidelity card included) 

I thought it would be fun if they got a little coffee cup stamp custom made for this feature!

An entrance banner

A menu

And finally, a frame that would showcase their food and drink. These are some pictures I took off of google, and I do not own the rights to them.

So there it is! What could have been! :) Maybe some day I'll open up a cafe in my old age,

and then I can use this design!

El Cafecito de la Aleman - concepts

A friend of mine recently opened a tiny cafe with his girlfriend in Merida Mexico, called El Cafecito de la Aleman. I wanted to help out by designing a logo and branding package for their new business.

Here was my first pass on logo ideas! I don't often design logos, so I'm pretty pleased at how these turned out! I like option 1 but I think option 3 - middle version - is my favorite. :)

Big Cats - Lions

Aaron Blaise had a sale on his tutorials recently, and I bought a few! One of which is all about drawing Big Cats. I took a lot of time studying horses, but not cats - or dogs for that matter. So here's my chance to brush up! The tutorials are a lot of fun. So far I've managed to cover lions. Here are some of my drawings while following along with Aaron!

Cafe Sketches - Summertime!

Since the weather has been so nice, I've been trying to do more cafe/bar sketches! They still don't look very good, but I'm hoping that in some... years... they will improve.

But there are fun human characters out there! That's for sure!
