It was a very happy Christmas and because I had very little funds this year - my extended family (That I've known for over 2 decades) got their caricatures as a gift! It seems to have been well received - everybody agrees that they are spot on! That's what's nice about doing caricatures of people you know so well - I could have drawn them with my eyes closed!
From left to right - my friends Bianca, Ray, "Big Sister" Zarrin, actual Big Sister Iwa, "Little Brother" (not so little these days) Rhys, "Big Brother" Renick, shrimpy little ME, my bestest buddy Malaika, and crazy Jimmy at the end.
Love them all! It was so good seeing everybody again! xox

Short film - Such Is Life
And here is a short film project we had to do for our Digital Tools class. I wanted to reuse my animation of the fat horse running, and so came up with this little animation.
I had fun doing the old horse run cycle! Hope you enjoy it!

Pinups - Jungle Cruise Jen
I'm
getting more orders for Pinup Caricatures right before Christmas as well. I
would like to use this post to show off one of my favorite pinups, and to take
a bow to the BEST client I ever had! Jen was truly a pleasure to work with. She
is a Skipper on Disneyland's Jungle Cruise, and wanted her pinup to be in
"uniform".

Animation - Ball and Tail/Ears exercise
More Animation! I had a lot of fun with this one. This is a classic Sheridan Animation exercise, but updated. Students used to animate one ball with a tail bounce in and out in perspective. This year we got longer to work on this exercise, but it had to be 2 balls, with tail or ears, that bounce in then interact in the center area, ending with them chasing each other off screen.
My little story was supposed to be flirtatious. I hope that came through. It took me quite some time, 25 seconds goes by fast, but it's a lot of paper! I already know what I would fix... my held cels last too long, and I could have exagerated some moments more, but oh well. I'm still pretty happy with it!
How much paper is 25 seconds of animation with 2 characters? THIS MUCH! ^_^

Painting - Still Life 2
And final project for Painting this semester! Still life #2. Again, a study of Glass, Metal and Fabric. The lemons I added just for the fun of it.
Cute Caricatures!
Christmas is coming, and I'm so happy to be getting more comissions for caricatures! Here's one style that is selling pretty well. It all started at the office, I made caricatures of most of my comrades at work - and the thing caught on!
I think my two favorites are 3rd from the left, my poor poor Producer Antoine, and 2nd from the right, "Jazz" John, a good friend and front-end programmer/Jazz drummer.

Character Design - Miyazaki inspired character
Our last assignment of Character Design from this semester. We had to chose and artist or animator that inspires us and do a 5 minute presentation in front of the class about his life/art style. Then finaly design a character in their style.
I chose Hayao Miyazaki. Obviously I didn't even come close. I love his character development sketches, especially of small children. So for my project, I decided to do a charcter based on my older sister, Iwa. I asked my mom to send me a bunch of pictures of her as a kid for inspiration.
Here is the result.

And just for fun, here are my favorite pictures of kid-Iwa! ^_^
This one served as the inspiration for my storyboard project:
Love this one. Could be little Kiki!
And last but not
least, my all-time favorite picture. This one describes quintessentially our
childhood relationship. Iwa did something evil, and made me cry, but is looking
like a little angel of innocence!
Too good!
